JUN14VSNH Salted Ocean Birthday :-)

Hi Stampers!

I am still working on the Splitcoaststampers’ Virtual Stamping Night- Summer Vacation Challenges and this card was created for the JUN14VSNH Ocean Water Challenge (to use a Salted Background technique) along with the CQC245 ColourQ Challenge.

I have never tried the Salted Technique before (see link for tutorial here)- it was fun but I did not have coarse salt so used regular table salt.  The salt did not seem to react/spread the ink as much as I would have liked but left a crystalline appearance that is difficult to see in the photo.  I will have to try this technique again once I purchase some coarser type of salt :-)

If you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will check out both challenge sites- great designs and such inspiration from all!

To create this card:

On a piece of Glossy cardstock, use an AquaPainter™ to apply Classic Ink from the Coastal Cabana and Pacific Point ink pads.  While still wet, apply salt and spritz with water to activate the salt. Use a Heat Tool to speed up the drying process and brush off any remaining salt.

Ink the coral stamp from By The Tide using Coastal Cabana Classic Ink and repeatedly stamp onto the panel.  Repeat this process using Pacific Point and Calypso Coral Classic Ink.

Ink the script stamp using Summer Starfruit, stamp a few times on the panel and stamp the Nantucket stamp using Pacific Point.   Trim and mount the panel onto a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock, trim and mount onto Calypso Coral and finally onto the Pacific Point card base.

On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the sentiment, seahorse, fish and shell images using Pacific Point Classic Ink.  Color the sea images using Sponge Daubers with Calypso Coral and Summer Starfruit Classic Ink. Add a few details with the Chalk Marker

Carefully cut out the sea images and mount onto the panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the strip of embossed Pacific Point cardstock (this was from my scraps) and Calypso Coral- add the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals® along with the retired knotted Hemp Twine to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: By The Tide, Express Yourself

Ink: Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Pacific Point, Summer Starfruit, Chalk Marker

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Glossy White, Pacific Point, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana

Accessories: Salt, AquaPainter™, Heat Tool, Hexagon Punch (for banner points), retired Hemp Twine

Thanks again for stopping by!  I will be sharing the final two cards for the Virtual Stamping Night (VSN) soon- have a great evening!
