Amazing Grace- How Sweet the Sound :-)

Hi Stampers!!

I had a chance to stamp this afternoon and decided to create a card for the Our Daily BreadDesigns ODBDSLC247 "Floral Inspiration" Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers’ CAS307 “Use Your Words” Challenge (see details here and gallery here) and Crafts4Eternity R#236 "Music".

Again, I hope you will take the time to visit the above sites- fabulous Design Team creations as well as gorgeous galleries and inspiration from all!

I pulled out a few Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) stamps and decided to use Christmas Rose for a non-Christmas card :-)

To create this card-

Stamp the Christmas Rose image five times using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink  (you do not need the entire image- just the main flower).

Color the petals with Stampin’ Write Markers- Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo, spritz with water to soften the marker edges, fussy-cut the images and curl the petals upward.

Once the flower images are dry, color the center with the Hello Honey Stampin’ Write marker, add the white highlights with a Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen marker and set the flowers aside.

Ink the Amazing Grace Hymn stamp using Smoky Slate Classic Ink and stamp on an angle onto Whisper White cardstock.

Trim the background panel and mount onto a piece of Brushed Gold cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Always Artichoke card base.

Ink the sentiment using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and use the Big Shot™ with the ODBD Vintage Flourish Pattern Die to cut out the sentiment as well as a piece from Brushed Gold cardstock.

Cut the Brushed Gold die cut in half horizontally and mount behind the sentiment (allowing a bit to show as a frame).

Wrap a piece of Gold Thread into a large loop and adhere to the card front (I used a drop of hot glue).

Use the Martha Stewart Leaf Punch to punch out the leaves from Always Artichoke cardstock and adhere behind the flowers.

Mount the framed sentiment to the card front using dimensional foam tape and add the flowers around the sentiment.

Finish off the card with a few  Pearls in the corners and you are done!

FYI- This card was a bit difficult to photograph- the Frost White Shimmer Paint created quite a glare and made the flowers in the photo look different in the color as well as highlight the wrinkles in the paper from curling- oops!

Stamp Sets: Our Daily Bread Designs- How Sweet the Sound, Amazing Grace Hymn, Christmas Rose

Ink: Stāz-On Jet Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo, Hello Honey; Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen Marker, Frost White Shimmer Paint

Paper: Whisper White, Always Artichoke, Brushed Gold

Accessories: Big Shot™, ODBD Vintage Flourish Pattern Die,  Martha Stewart Leaf Punch, Gold Metallic Thread, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- it is such an encouragement to me!  Have a wonderful day, my friends!

By The Seashore- Thinking of You

Hi Again Stampers!

I had a chance to complete one more card Saturday evening and decided to play along with the Pals Paper Arts PPA261 Sketch Challenge as well as the Splitcoaststampers’ Mix-Ability MIX120 “Just Beachy” Challenge (see details here and gallery here) and the F4A273 “Sand Between My Toes” Challenge (see details here and gallery here).

When I organized my stamping area (a while ago :-)), I found some previously pre-printed My Digital Studio (MDS) images that had already been colored and “fussy-cut” and decided to use for these images for the main design.   Of course, you could stamp the images if you do not have MDS...

Again, if you have not stopped by any of the challenge sites yet, I hope you will find the time to do so- fantastic inspiration from all!!

To create this card:

Open a blank document in My Digital Studio (MDS), position the By The Seashore images (re-sizing all a bit) and print out using Black Printer Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

The sand has alot of shimmer and sparkle that is difficult to see in the photo :-)
Color the images using Blushing Bride and Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Markers.
Fussy-cut each image and use an AquaPainter™ to apply retired Frost White Shimmer Paint to each image.

Tear a piece of scrap paper to create the edge for the shoreline, mask a portion of Whisper White cardstock and using Sponge Daubers apply Sahara Sand Classic Ink for the sand area.

Remove the mask and replace over the sand (extending a bit for the “foam”) and sponge Pool Party, Marina Mist and Lost Lagoon Classic Ink for the ocean.

Mask the water area again and spritz Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (mixed with rubbing alcohol) over the sand area, lift the mask and re-mask the sand area to spray Frost White Shimmer Paint over the ocean area.

Ink the Gorgeous Grunge large splatter stamp using Sahara Sand and stamp over the sand area.

Add a few white highlights over the water with the Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen Marker as well as highlights on the shell images, etc.

Use a Faber-Castell® Black Pitt Pen S Marker to add the definition for the shore line.

Stamp the sentiment using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and trim the panel, mount onto Tip Top Taupe cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Mount the seashell images using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  By The Seashore (MDS version), Wetlands

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Stāz-On® Jet Black, Lost Lagoon, Marina Mist, Pool Party, Sahara Sand; Stampin’ Write Markers- Blushing Bride, Sahara Sand; Faber-Castell® Pitt Pen Markers- White and Black “S”, Shimmer Paint- Champagne Mist and Frost White

Paper: Whisper White, Tip Top Taupe

Accessories: AquaPainter™,  Sponge Daubers, scrap paper for masking

Thanks again for stopping by- I hope all of you have a wonderful and relaxing Sunday!

Choose Happiness - Feel Better Soon :-)

Hi Stampers!

This weekend I had a chance to play around in my craft room and created a fun Mixed Media card for the As You See It #97 Sketch Challenge using the Colour Me...!#81 "Colour Me Playful" Challenge along with the Friday Mash Up! FM218 "Let's Eat" Challenge (food and/or drink or use markers to color or both- I chose markers to color only :-)).

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites yet, again, I would encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this Mixed Media card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Calypso Coral, trim again and mount onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss, trim once more and mount onto the Pink Pirouette card base.

De-static a piece of Vellum and stamp the woodgrain banner image from Choose Happiness several times using Versamark™ ink.  Apply Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder and use the Heat Tool to heat set.   Once the powder has cooled carefully cut out the banners.

Mount the banners at varying lengths to the upper right hand portion of the card front.

Ink the flower and stem images from Choose Happiness with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp two of the flower images as well as three of the stems onto Whisper White cardstock.

Use Stampin’ Write Markers to color the images- Pink Pirouette and Calypso Coral for the flowers and Garden Green for the stems (scribbling the Garden Green onto a craft mat and using the AquaPainter™ for the first layer of color, then coloring direct with the marker).

Spritz the colored images with water to help soften the edges of the marker and “fussy-cut” out the images.

Use the AquaPainter™ to apply Frost White Shimmer Paint to the petals, and, if needed, the White Gel Pen to highlight the center.

Stamp the bird, sentiment and border using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  Fussy cut out the bird image and set aside.

Trim the border image and sentiment into strips and create the banner point using the Hexagon Punch.  Layer onto Blackberry Bliss cardstock, create the banner points using the Hexagon Punch, layer onto Calypso Coral cardstock and create the banner points once more with the Hexagon Punch.

Mount the banners to the card front per the sketch and add the stems.
Mount the flowers to the corner (using Stampin’ Dimensionals® for the second flower) and add the bird image with Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Choose Happiness, Express Yourself (retired Hostess set)

Ink: Versamark™, Stāz-On® Jet Black, Blackberry Bliss; Stampin’ Write Markers- Calypso Coral, Garden Green, Pink Pirouette, White Gel Pen

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral, Pink Pirouette

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Honeycomb Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Hexagon Punch, Frost White Shimmer Paint

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I will be sharing one more card shortly :-)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

Bonjour- A Fun CAS Mixed Media Card :-)

Hi Stampers!

This Clean and Simple (CAS) Mixed Media card was created using the Splitcoaststampers’ CC540 Color Challenge (see details here and gallery here- dessert option "Birthday" but I skipped dessert this time :-)) along with the Way To Use It WT514  “Speaking Foreign” Challenge (see details here and gallery here), Free For All F4A281 “Think Big”  Challenge (see details here and gallery here) and SC518 Sketch Challenge  (see details here and gallery here).

I purchased this owl stamp on sale a while ago and this is the first time that I have had a chance to play around with it....I love this bold image- it reminds me of a woodcut and the owl has such a bewildered and cute expression (I normally do not gravitate towards “cute” images but one of my friends absolutely loves all things “cutesy” and she is starting to wear off on me- lol!).

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites yet, again, I would encourage you to do so- great inspiration from all!

This card was fairly quick to create- de-static the paper with an Embossing Buddy®, stamp the image using Versamark™ ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss White Embossing Powder, heat with the Heat Tool, color with Stampin’ Write Markers- Tempting Turquoise, Smoky Slate and Crushed Curry and wipe off the excess with a dampened paper towel.

I did modify the image a bit using a Spectrum Noir™ True Black alcohol marker to enlarge the pupil, added additional lines for the “iris” with a Faber-Castell Pitt Pen XS Marker and finished with the white highlights using Titanium White Acrylic Paint.

Trim the image and mount onto Tempting Turquoise cardstock, trim again and mount onto Smoky Slate cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock using Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink, trim the panel and mount onto Tempting Turquoise cardstock, trim again and mount onto Smoky Slate cardstock, trim once more and mount onto the Tempting Turquoise card base.

Add the owl image panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and a few Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Chère Amie  (My Friend),  Owl Stamp (Inkadinkado)

Ink: Versamark™, Tempting Turquoise; Stampin’ Write Markers- Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate, Tempting Turquoise

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Smoky Slate, Tempting Turquoise

Accessories:  Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Rhinestones

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope you have a fantastic week, my friends!

SUO127 Wilderness Awaits- Favorite New Stamp Set :-)

Hi Stampers!

It’s time for the new SUO127 “Favorite New Stamp” Challenge!  What a decision- to choose only one as a favorite?  I decided to use The Wilderness Awaits since when I first saw that stamp set, it was immediately added to my “Wish List”.

Of course, I could not use just one, so I combined it with the new Vintage Leaves set as well as Petite Pairs for the sentiment.

I also incorporated the Time Out #35 Nature (with option twistof Animals)  Challenge and  F4A275 “Honor Thy Father” (see the details here and gallery here)

I hope you will find the time to check out all the rest of our Design Team ideas at SUO Challenges as well as those at the other two challenge sites- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Ink the fox image using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.

Color the image using Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze and Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Markers for the fox, Wild Wasabi and  Mossy Meadow for the grass along with an AquaPainter™ (scribble the marker onto an acrylic block or craft mat and use the AquaPainter™ to apply to the image, then use the markers themselves as needed for definition).

Trim the image and mount onto Early Espresso cardstock, trim again and mount onto Cajun Craze cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, punch out with the 1 ¼” Circle Punch and mount onto a circle of Early Espresso and Cajun Craze cardstock (also punched with the 1 ¼” Circle Punch).

Adhere the sentiment behind the fox image panel.

Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Tangelo Twist, Old Olive and Soft Suede to Very Vanilla cardstock.

Stamp the leaves using Memento® Tuxedo Black Ink and cut out by hand.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Cajun Craze card base.

Add the Maple Leaf to the card front and mount the fox image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to the card front.

Add the remaining leaves and mount the Cajun Craze bow (created with the Bow Builder Punch) along with the Antique Brad to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets:  The Wilderness Awaits, Vintage Leaves, Petite Pairs

His Eye Is On The Sparrow- A Mixed Media Card for Two Challenges :-)

Hi Stampers!!

Sorry I have not posted in a few days – I have been creating cards for the upcoming 2015 Dare to Get Dirty Week at Splitcoaststampers!

This year I will be hosting one of the DTGD challenges for the very first time and only Fan Club Members are allowed to see all of the challenge particulars and participate (see details here on becoming a Fan Club Member).

The yearly membership fee helps to offset the cost of maintaining the Splitcoaststampers website, so if you are not already a Fan Club Member, I hope you will consider joining (no, I do not receive commission, but for all of the gallery inspiration, free tutorials, etc. that Splitcoaststampers provides to our art community, it is well worth less than a penny a day to become a Fan Club Member :-)).

In the meantime, while I had some of the Mixed Media supplies on my craft table, I decided to create a card for the Mixed Media Monthly Card Challenge #13 “Blue” along with the Splitcoaststampers Free For All F4A282 “Anything That Flies” Challenge (see details here and gallery here).

Again, I hope you will take the time to visit the above sites- fabulous Design Team creations as well as gorgeous galleries and inspiration from all!

This card was created using Gesso® over a piece of Stampin’ Up! retired DSP as the background “base”, applying layers of Gelatos®, Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains and Adirondack® Alcohol Inks as well as Crackle Texture Paste with Stencils.  Keep applying layers until you are satisfied (I am a messy Mixed Media artist so if you are like me, you fingers will become "blue" as well as the background- lol!)...
Add the crochet lace, ribbon, stamped bird and digital sentiment along with a few Pearls and you are done :-)

Stamp Sets: Choose Happiness, Script (retired background stamp), Word Art Wednesday (digital sentiment)

Ink: Stāz-On Midnight Ink, Island Indigo; Gelatos®,  Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains and Adirondack® Alcohol Inks

Paper: Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo, Mossy Meadow, Perfect Plum; retired SU! DSP (patterned covered with Gesso®)

Accessories: Gesso®, Heat Tool, Big Shot™, MFT Royal Mini Rose Dies, Flourish Stencil, Crackle Texture Paste, Frost White Shimmer Paint, Crochet Lace, MS Leaf Punch, Hexagon Punch, 3/8” Perfect Plum Taffeta Ribbon, 5/8” Satin Ribbon, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- it is such an encouragement to me!  Have a wonderful day, my friends!

Shades of Pink in Less than 10 Minutes :-)

Hi Stampers!

This card was created using As You See It “10 minute Shades of Pink” Challenge for inspiration (The card took 8 minutes 55 sec to create).

Speed stamping is not my easy for me but I always have some card fronts of Whisper White cardstock as well as card bases cut and ready in my stash- this definitely helped save some time :-)

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge site yet, again, I would encourage you to do so- great inspiration from all!

This card was very simple (and quick) to create- brayer on the pinks, stencil the darker pink, de-static the cardstock and emboss the sunflower and sentiment, mount onto the card base, add the gingham ribbon and bow along with the white faceted gems to finish off the card- total time to create- 8 minutes 55 secs

Stamp Sets:  Sunflower, Scripture Collection #9 (ODBD)

Ink: Versamark™, Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White

Accessories:  Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Mini Punchenella stencil by Balzar® Designs,  misc. gems from my stash

Bravo! Way to Go- A "Throwdown" and Sketch Challenge :-)

Hi Again Stampers!

Ok- this is the last card that I will be sharing that I created this past weekend…I decided to try a brand new challenge for me- TGIFC Throwdown Challenge #2 for July along with the IN{K}SPIRE_Me #206 Sketch Challenge ( flipped the sketch over).

The TGIFC "Throwdown" Challenge is a monthly challenge where you can only use at least four of six items that they list as the “throwdown” along with a few other “pantry” items- trust me, this was a tough one- lol!!

I hope you will find the time to visit the above sites and check out all of the inspiration from their Design Teams as well as their galleries!

To create this card:

Using Hello Honey and Pool Party re-inkers, place a few ink drops on your acrylic blocks and spritz with water.

Lay a piece of Whisper White cardstock face down into the ink, swirl and lift (do not get the paper too wet or it will “pill”).

Add a bit more interest using an AquaPainter™ and dripping plain water over the dried ink- it will spread a bit and create larger circles.

Add a bit of black splatters using the AquaPainter™ with Momento™  Tuxedo Black Ink (drop  a spot of the refill, pick it up with the AquaPainter™ and tap the brush end top to create the splatter or allow to just drop onto the paper).

Stamp the sentiment from Bravo! using Momento™  Tuxedo Black Ink (I probably should have used Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink) onto Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto Basic Black cardstock.

Add another Whisper White panel mounted onto Basic Black cardstock on an angle behind the sentiment.

Place the sentiment face down onto the acrylic blocks with the remaining Hello Honey and Pool Party re-inker and swirl the paper a bit.
Also swirl a small piece of Whisper White cardstock into the Hello Honey and Pool Party ink- set aside to dry.

Cut the background panel into three strips and mount onto Basic Black cardstock. Trim the panel again and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Add the scrap strips of Basic Black cardstock and mount the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Hand cut the small squares of Whisper White cardstock and hand cut the tiny squares of Hello Honey and Pool Party paper (created in the step above) to create the two diamond shaped accents-  add to the card front to finish off the card.

I love being challenged and think that the limited “Throwdown” challenge is a great idea, but I feel that this card is missing something (I may end up adding a few Rhinestones before I send this one in the mail)....

Stamp Sets: Bravo!

Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink ; Re-Inkers- Hello Honey, Pool Party, Memento™ Tuxedo Black

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories: AquaPainter™, Acrylic Blocks, Water Spritzer Bottle

Thanks again for visiting- I hope all of you have a fantastic week!

Vintage Leaves- Thinking of You

Hi Again Stampers!

I wanted to share another card that I created this past weekend using the Stampin’ Royalty SR285 Color Challenge along with the CCEE1528 “Cheer Up the Lonely” Challenge and the Splitcoaststampers' TLC536 "Splatter It Up" Challenge (see details here and gallery here).

If you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will find the time to visit the above challenge sites to check out the Design Team samples as well as their galleries- fantastic inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Using Old Olive and Tangelo Twist Classic Ink, pat your craft mat and spritz the ink with water.

Take a piece of Watercolor Paper and swirl face down through the wet ink allowing the ink to run and merge, repeat and allow to dry.

Ink the leaf image from the new set, Vintage Leaves using Soft Suede Classic Ink and stamp onto the background piece of Watercolor Paper- carefully cut out the leaf image by hand.

Stamp the sentiment from Wetlands onto the Very Vanilla card front using Soft Suede Classic Ink, add the striped border from Gorgeous Grunge using Old Olive Classic Ink and the splatters with Tangelo Twist and Soft Suede Classic Ink.

Trim the panel and mount onto the Soft Suede card base.

Add a bit of Gold Metallic Thread and mount the leaf using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

Quick and easy- I will need to make a few more of these for my stash :-)

Stamp Sets: Vintage Leaves, Gorgeous Grunge, Wetlands

Ink: Soft Suede, Old Olive, Tangelo Twist

Paper: Watercolor, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede

Accessories: Gold Metallic Thread, Water Spritzer Bottle

Thanks again for visiting- I hope all of you have a great evening!
