Sweet As Honey
Today we are celebrating the July Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Release and this Mixed Media card was designed with the new Sweet As Honey stamp set.
I just love the bee image with the honeycomb as well as the sentiments and verses that Korin Sutherland designed for this set! They are perfect for cards, home décor as well as bible art journaling!
I incorporated the Splitcoaststampers SC645 Sketch Challenge along with the DeepOcean #158 “Lots of Layers” Challenge and the Simon Wednesday “Summer Sunshine”Challenge (to me, the bright sunny colors and of course, bees are definitely part of summer sunshine :-)) into the design.
Again, if you have not had a chance to visit the challenge sites or SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!
To create this card:
1). Using distress stains (Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade) tap onto a craft mat, spritz with water and lay two pieces of white cardstock into the ink. Lift up and continue to add layers of ink, drying with a heat tool between layers.
2). Once you are satisfied with the results, ink the honeycomb image from Sweet As Honey with wild honey distress stain and stamp onto one of the background panels. Add diluted white acrylic paint with a paint brush (as needed) to tone down some of the color. Distress the edges and mount onto a piece of black cardstock. Add the crochet lace and gingham ribbon to the panel (wrap the edges of the ribbon behind the panel) and mount the entire panel onto the white card base.
3). On the second background piece, trim the panel, distress the edges using a tearing tool and your finger before stamping the honeycomb image from Sweet As Honey with hickory smoke distress ink. Mount onto a piece of black cardstock and adhere the panel to the card front with dimensional foam.
4). Ink the sentiment and bees from Sweet As Honey with archival black ink, stamp onto a piece of white cardstock, and heat set with a heat tool (to speed up the drying process). Color the bees with a honey marker, fussy cut and add shimmer to the wings with a clear glitter pen.
5). Die cut the sentiment with a stitched oval die, use a sponge dauber to apply wild honey distress stain to the edges and stamp the honeycomb image with Wild Honey distress stain as well (stamp the honeycomb off onto scrap paper before adding to the sentiment).
6). Mount the sentiment and bees to the card front along with a few rhinestones to finish off the card.
Thanks again for stopping by- hugs and I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!
